The athlete and the academically inclined person are basically brawn and brains.
Athletic people are more skilled in areas like sports and things that require physical exertion. They act more than they think and are often energetic and cheerful people. Intellectual people are skilled in the workings of the brain and they are often more on the serious side. When deserted on an island, an athletic person would build a sturdy shelter and climb trees to feed and sustain himself. He would most likely die from accidentally eating something poisonous due to lack of knowledge. An intellectual person would most likely find shelter under the most suitable tree they could find and pick food low on the grounds due to probably not having the upper body strength to climb a tree. He would most likely die from starvation or natural causes because of the unfit shelter. That is the best way I can explain the difference between brains and brawn.
If given the chance to choose, I'd rather be athletic because it's easier to develop the academically-inclined aspect of yourself than the athletic aspect. All humans have a brain with equal thinking capacity so everyone was meant to be smart and even if I'm more of an athlete, I can develop this intellectual side easier than the other way around. If I'm more brainy, it will be hard to develop athletic skills because not everyone was meant to have athletic skills nor have the build of an athlete. Also, I'd rather be brawny because in my opinion, brawny people have better chances of surviving. Brainy people think, yes, but they do not act.
