Texting is not ruining my knowledge of the English language simply because I don't text. I do like to chat online very much though and that's almost the same thing so I'll talk about that.
I don't think it affects my knowledge of English because I pretty much talk the same on chat and in real life. Sometimes though, I like to shorten things like:
hmu- hook me up
lol- laughing out loud
irl- in real life
np- no problem
rn- right now
I'm not stupid enough to actually let that diminish my knowledge of grammar and stuff though. I only shorten those because either I'm too lazy to type the whole thing or I want to place emphasis on the waste of time that the person I'm talking to gives me.
